Part-Time Executive Director

About Inspiration Station  

Inspiration Station is an emerging children’s museum in the heart of Pickaway County, Ohio,  designed to spark creativity, cultivate STEM skills, and promote community engagement.  With a strong educational focus and commitment to inclusivity, our 9,000-square-foot  facility—now in the exhibit design and fabrication phase—is scheduled to open in 2026.  

Backed by the Pickaway County Community Foundation (PCCF), a nonprofit with over $17  million in assets, the museum is part of a broader mission to enhance educational access  and community development in a region deeply rooted in agriculture and manufacturing.  

Position Summary  

We are seeking a visionary and motivated Part-Time Executive Director to lead the next  phase of museum development and community engagement. This role will evolve into a full time position upon the museum’s opening in 2026.  

The Executive Director will play a pivotal role in:  

  • Overseeing the completion of exhibit construction.  
  • Leading and executing strategic fundraising efforts.  
  • Building partnerships with educators, businesses, and civic leaders.  
  • Ensuring the successful launch and long-term sustainability of the museum.  

Key Responsibilities  

Project & Organizational Leadership  

  • Serve as the primary leader and public representative of Inspiration Station.  
  • Collaborate closely with PCCF, exhibit designers, and community stakeholders to meet  construction timelines and launch goals.  
  • Report to the PCCF Executive Director and Board of Directors. 

Fundraising & Financial Development  

  • Lead capital campaign efforts to secure the remaining exhibit and operational funding.
  • Cultivate donor relationships, write grants, and engage sponsors.  
  • Track fundraising milestones and maintain financial transparency.  

Community Engagement & Partnerships  

  • Actively promote the museum’s mission in Pickaway County and surrounding areas.  
  • Develop strategic partnerships with local schools, civic organizations, and businesses.  
  • Facilitate inclusive programming that aligns with local educational goals and community  identity.  

Museum Planning & Programming  

  • Guide pre-opening operations including staffing, volunteer coordination, and policy  development.  
  • Ensure that exhibits and programs meet benchmarks for educational impact, accessibility,  and visitor engagement.  
  • Prepare reports for stakeholders, sponsors, and grant funders.  

Qualifications  

Required  

  • Proven leadership experience in nonprofit, museum, or education-related sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, including donor cultivation and grant writing.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.  
  • Familiarity with community-based development or education initiatives.  

Preferred  

  • Background in museum operations, exhibit development, or early childhood/STEM  education.  
  • Knowledge of Pickaway County’s culture, industries (agriculture/manufacturing), and  community dynamics.  
  • Experience engaging rural, under-resourced, or neurodiverse populations.  

Compensation & Benefits  

  • Pay: Commensurate with experience; incentive bonuses available.  
  • Review Period: 6-month probationary period with formal performance evaluation.
  • Opportunity to grow into a full-time executive leadership role with expanded salary and  benefits package as museum operations scale.
